MIAMI (GaeaTimes.com) — The 125 mph Category 3 storm Hurricane Earl is heading west northwest at an alarming speed. Weather forecasts suggest that the storm can turn into a category 4 by tomorrow. Its current projected course shows that it could invade the Eastern Coast in coming days.

It is yet to be determined which parts of the eastern region will face its direct impact by the Miami chapter of U.S. National Hurricane Center. The hurricane is following a curved track that could reach the Cape Hatteras, North Carolina shortly. According to Hurricane center Forecaster Jessica Schauer the progress of the Hurricane should be monitored closely. She says

Right now it’s forecast to pass off the coast of Cape Hatteras, probably within about 300 miles but that forecast track can change,

She also thought that a direct impact on North Carolina was a possibility. But a news of great relief is that the devastating Hurricane should not reach the Gulf Of Mexico on its current path. Since that region is peppered with oil wells, such a brutal twister could have had devastating consequences. Alerts have been issued on Virgin Islands and the ports of Vieques, Culebra, Fajardo, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Government offices and schools were subsequently closed down.
