Pakistan Flood Affects Three Million Lives

ISLAMABAD (GaeaTImes.com) — The count has raised over 3 million as the flood continues to devastate life and property in the North western Pakistan. To add to the calamity, possible outbreak of water-borne diseases among the survivors is now being concerned as the major issue.

Death toll is way past 1500 as reported by UNICEF. Latifur Rehman, a spokesman of Provincial Disaster Management Authority said,

Around 30,000 houses have been damaged or destroyed and tens of thousands of people are living in the open sky.

The United Nations, the European Union and various countries, including the US, have announced aid to help the flood victims. Overflowing rivers have submerged dozens of villages and crops on millions of hectares of agricultural land in Punjab. Fresh flood swept a couple of people this morning too.
