MIAMI — A tropical depression has formed off Mexico’s southwestern coast as another one closer to shore dissipated.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami says the latest depression formed Thursday in the Pacific about 265 miles (425 kilometers) south-southwest of Manzanillo and is moving northeast around 2 mph (4 kph).
It has maximum sustained winds near 30 mph (45 kph). Forecasters say some increase in strength is expected over the next 48 hours and is expected to become a tropical storm later in the day.
