East’s rainy weather delays trains and planes

BOSTON — The stormy weather in the Northeast is causing delays for some air and rail travelers.

Amtrak said Tuesday that some trains through Rhode Island and Connecticut are running into delays because of high water on the tracks.

Railroad spokesman Cliff Cole says that the delays are on both the regular and high-speed Acela lines but that no trains had been canceled by midday Tuesday.

Several airports in the region are experiencing weather-related departure delays of up to three hours. That includes LaGuardia and Kennedy airports in New York and the nearby Newark Liberty Airport in New Jersey.
