Hurricane Threatens Ocracoke Island

Ocracoke Island (GaeaTimes.com) — Ocracoke Island will have to be evacuated by Wednesday Morning. The Authorities have suggested that residents should move to higher grounds and take movable necessities with them. All these steps have been taken by the Ocracoke Island Authority in lieu of the Hurricane that continues to threaten this narrow land strip. The Hurricane has been reported to move towards the southern coast of Ocracoke Island.

The only shelter that will be remain officially opened on Wednesday is the North Pitt High School, 5659 N. Highway 11, Bethel, NC. You are also advised to tune into local radio 90.1 FM on the island.

Hurricanes have always been unpredictable in the past. They provide very little notice before changing their directions. So, its better to take precautions before you face this natural calamity.
