Blizzard doesn’t hold up Obama speech to Democrats
WASHINGTON — The blizzard that draped the nation’s capital in a blanket of white isn’t keeping President Barack Obama from his appointed rounds.
A convoy of SUVs has left the White House for a hotel just a few blocks away where Obama planned to speak to party activists at the winter meeting of the Democratic National Committee.
Obama was sticking to his schedule because DNC delegates already were in town before the big snowstorm and because the meeting was nearby.
The storm has brought the city to a standstill and left streets deserted of traffic — except for the occasional presidential motorcade.
