3 tornadoes reported on NE Colorado plains
DENVER — At least three tornadoes have been reported on Colorado’s northeastern plains, with one person reporting damage to a barn.
Meteorologist Frank Benton of the National Weather Service in Boulder says a woman told the Washington County sheriff’s office that a tornado touched down on her property 13 miles south of Otis at 7:44 p.m. and ripped apart half her barn. No injuries were reported.
Benton says two more tornadoes were reported on the ground seven miles southeast of Akron. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The area is about 110 miles northeast of Denver.
Thunderstorms that dumped several inches of rain in northeastern Colorado also unleashed marble-size hail and wind gusts of about 65 mph near Iliff.
