Ohio school hit by tornado celebrates graduation

PERRYSBURG, Ohio — The superintendent of an Ohio high school that was wrecked by a tornado has opened its belated graduation ceremony by telling those gathered that “by sticking together and taking care of each other, this school district and this community will be even stronger than ever.”

The graduation ceremony scheduled for Sunday was postponed until Tuesday and relocated to a community college after the tornado struck Lake High School in the Toledo area just hours before commencement.

Among the five people killed in the storm was the father of the class valedictorian.

Superintendent Jim Witt also promised the graduating students that the school would rebuild, saying “Lake High School will be together somewhere come August.”
