Britain groaning under unusually heavy snowfall
LONDON — Unusually heavy snowfall has cut roads, disrupted train services, shut airports and closed schools across Britain.
The country’s military and coast guards have been mobilized to help rescue workers reach motorists stranded by the wintry weather.
Britain’s weather office has put the entire country on alert, warning of icy roads and very heavy snowfall throughout the U.K.
But London was spared the worst of the weather, with only minor disruptions reported in the capital.
The weather office has said Britain is experiencing its longest cold snap since 1981. The unusually cold weather is expected to continue for the next two weeks.
