Officials: Tornado caused damage in Connecticut
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The National Weather Service says a tornado was responsible for damage in Connecticut’s largest city during powerful storms that swept across the Northeast.
Officials made the confirmation Friday, a day after the storm left a swath of destruction in the heart of Bridgeport. No one was killed or seriously injured.
Still, the storm collapsed buildings, blew off roofs, shattered windows and toppled trees in a city struggling to recover from industrial decline.
The same system caused damage from Pennsylvania to Maine but saved the worst for Connecticut.
