New York City has snowiest month in its history
ALBANY, N.Y. — New York City has set a record for the snowiest month in its history.
The National Weather Service says the slow-moving storm that blanketed Central Park with nearly 21 inches of snow has made this February the snowiest month in the city’s history.
Pete Wichrowski of the National Weather Service says 20.9 inches of snow fell from the storm in Central Park, pushing the city’s total for the month to 36.9 inches and easily beating the previous high of 30.5 inches, set in March 1896. It also topped the previous high for the month of February, 27.9 inches in 1934.
The National Weather Service has been keeping records since 1869.
