Summary Box: More flights canceled, shipments delayed by latest snow storm to batter Northeast
By APFriday, February 26, 2010
Summary Box: Snow hampers planes, trains, autos
BOTTOM LINE: The latest snowstorm to batter the Northeast forced hundreds more flights to be canceled Friday, train and bus service to be scrapped and some shipments of small packages and heavy freight to be suspended or delayed.
IMPACT: The financial toll is still being tallied, but logistically carriers and shippers were able to handle the storm, as they did with the other storms that hit in February, by being proactive and shifting service and operations around. Weary travelers, meanwhile, faced more inconvenience.
MORE TO COME?: For the airlines, more flights could be canceled Saturday.
(This version CORRECTS the first sentence to say Northeast instead of Northwest)
