Strong earthquake hits US-Mexico border

LOS ANGELES - An earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale occurred south of the US-Mexico border Sunday afternoon and was felt across Southern California on the US side.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the tremor was centered in Baja California, Mexico, with a depth of 32.3 kilometers.

The quake sent high-rises in major California cities like Los Angeles and San Diego rocking back and forth.
