Severe storms in East; multiple injuries in Conn.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Severe thunderstorms have hit the Northeast, with one causing widespread damage in Connecticut’s largest city.
Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch declared a state of emergency Thursday.
Finch says there are multiple injuries, but no reports of fatalities. He says there are blown out windows, uprooted trees, and facades ripped off buildings. He says there are reports of partial collapses of buildings.
Strong storms with heavy rain also swept through the Philadelphia area, and the same system brought storms to northwestern Ohio on Wednesday night.
