San Diego Quake

SAN DIEGO (GaeaTimes.com)- The southern San Diego Country along the border of United States And Mexico experienced as many as two dozen earthquakes on Monday night, according to reports that have been available. The tremors which included an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 on the Richter scale, rocked large parts of Southern California while being felt throughout Los Angeles County. Seismologist have emphasized that earthquakes were nothing but aftershocks of earthquake that struck the Baja California peninsula of Mexico and was measured to be 7.2 on the Richter scale.
The U.S. Geological Survey has revealed that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a distance of five miles on the southeast direction of Ocotillo in the San Diego County and around 16 miles along the east-northeast direction of Jacumba in the eastern part of San Diego County. Although the region was hit be a series of earthquake most of which was measured to be of magnitude 1 to 4.1, no significant damage to life and property has been reported till now, officials have stated. Among the successive earthquakes, the largest tremor of magnitude 5.7 was felt strongly quite strongly in San Diego due to which the Padres and the Toronto Blue rays game which was being held at the Petco Stadium was stopped for a certain period of time. However, as the earthquake lasted for just about few minutes, the game was soon resumed.
Meanwhile, Thomas Jordan who is the director of the Southern California Earthquake Center later added that there was nothing unusual about the series of earthquake hitting the southern San Diego County as owing to the Mexico earthquake, such kind of aftershocks are expected.
