6.2-magnitude quake hits Japan

TOKYO - A 6.2-magnitude earthquake rocked Japan’s Honshu Island Sunday, the meteorological office said.

The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 0333 GMT, was located about 40 km under the sea off Fukushima prefecture in northeastern Honshu, Xinhua quoted the Japan Meteorological Agency as saying.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to properties. The quake was also felt in Tokyo metropolitan area, some 200 km south of Fukushima.
