WASHINGTON - A day after a 8.8-magnitude earthquake ravaged Chile’s Concepcion city, a fresh 6.2-magnitude aftershock hit central Chile late Sunday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

According to Xinhua, the temblor was centred 109 km northeast of the city of Talca and struck at a depth of 35 km, the USGS said.

A number of strong aftershocks have occurred after Saturday’s quake, which has killed at least 700 people and left hundreds missing.
