BRIC summit advanced due to China quake

BRASILIA - The BRIC summit of India, Brazil, Russia and China has been advanced to Thursday as Chinese President Hu Jintao has to leave for Beijing in the wake of a massive quake in Qinghai province.

The BRIC summit that brings the leaders of the four top emerging economies of the world will now be held here Thursday night. It was earlier scheduled for Friday.

A massive 6.9-magnitude quake hit Qinghai province Wednesday, killing 617 people and injuring hundreds.
