Four Maoists held in Jharkhand

RANCHI - Four suspected Maoists, including a women, were arrested in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district Wednesday, police said.

A release by Jharkhand police said the four people, belonging to the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), were arrested from Dubka village, around 160 km from here.

The arrested include Shivacharan Manjhi alias Taloji, an area secretary of the Maoists, and Shobha alias Subhashini Marandi, an active member of Nari Mukti Manch, a women’s organisation of the rebels.

Police seized two pistols, one double-barrel gun, six live bombs, more than 20 live cartridges, two motorcycles, two mobiles and some incriminating documents.

Maoist rebels are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
