Obama: more needs to be done to ensure mine safety
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says more needs to be done to ensure mine safety.
He has asked federal officials to report to him next week on the cause of Monday’s deadly explosion in a West Virginia coal mine. Officials have suggested a buildup of methane might have been to blame.
The blast killed at least 29 miners making it the worst U.S. mining disaster in a generation.
Obama had been praying that four missing miners would be found safe, but rescue workers say they found their bodies deep inside the mine.
