Family reunited with baby pulled from Haiti rubble
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — A Haitian baby rescued from the rubble after January’s devastating earthquake and transported to a Florida hospital has been reunited with her parents.
Baby Jenny and her mother were separated when the earthquake struck Haiti. Several days later, Jenny was pulled from the debris and taken to the U.S. for treatment.
The infant had arm and head injuries and a collapsed chest.
Bob Martinez, an attorney for the child’s parents, says the couple learned their baby had been rescued and began searching for her. A DNA test of Jenny and her mother came back with a positive match.
The lawyer and the state Department of Children and Families say the family was reunited Monday. They will hold a news conference later in the day.
