Company: Wash. refinery fire kills 1, 3 missing
ANACORTES, Wash. — Tesoro Corp. says one person died in an early morning fire at its refinery in Anacortes, Wash., and that emergency responders are looking for three missing workers.
The company says in a news release from San Antonio that four employees were injured. They have been taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The fire occurred about 12:30 a.m. Friday in the naphtha unit and was extinguished in about 90 minutes.
Anacortes residents told Seattle TV stations they heard an explosion and saw flames hundreds of feet into the air over the refinery.
