Youth gets killed trying to save mother

NEW DELHI - A 19-year-old young man was allegedly stabbed to death by a man here Tuesday, when he tried to stop the accused from beating his mother, police said. The attacker has been arrested.

The incident took place late Monday night in Aman Vihar area of outer district.

“The young lad has been identified as Pradeep, a resident of Balbir Vihar area. A religious function was organised in the neighbourhood. The accused, Lalla, along with Pradeep and other friends were standing there when Pradeep’s mother asked them to go away,” a senior police officer said.

“Everyone except Lalla went away. Pradeep’s mother scolded and slapped him and Lalla attacked her. Seeing his mother being beaten, Pradeep rushed to her rescue, but Lalla took out a knife and stabbed Pradeep,” the officer added.

Pradeep was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead. Police have registered a case of murder and have arrested Lalla.
