HAVANA - Cuban filmmakers have expressed support and solidarity to their Chilean counterparts in the wake of a devastating earthquake that killed hundreds of people and left millions homeless in that country, Prensa Latina reported Saturday.
A magnitude 8.8 quake rocked Chile Feb 27, killing more than 400 people and leaving about two million people homeless.
After sending its condolences to the relatives of the victims, the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry said in a message released here Friday: “Know that here we are, as always, within the reach of a hug.
We have seen the horrific images of the damages caused by the earthquake and repeated penetrations of the sea in coastal zones.
Through you, brothers and sisters of work and dreams, we extend our unconditional sympathy to the Chilean people. We feel as our own the pain that this disaster has caused you.”
