US skier Stacey Cook crashes in downhill training
WHISTLER, British Columbia — The U.S. Ski Team says Stacey Cook will be taken by helicopter to a medical facility as a precaution after crashing during Olympic downhill training.
Cook slammed into the safety netting at full speed but managed to get up and stand under her own power. She then sat down and was tended to by the medical staff. The team said it did not immediately have injury details.
Cook had trouble landing a jump on the upper section of the course and shifted her weight backward to the snow.
Cook was the second racer on the course Thursday following numerous delays because of thick fog and low visibility. Training was again delayed while Cook was put on a stretcher to be airlifted.
