2 Metro workers killed by maintenance vehicle
ROCKVILLE, Md. — Two workers for the Washington-area Metro train system have died after they were hit by a maintenance vehicle along a track in Maryland.
County fire officials say both workers were on a track when they were hit around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday a few blocks from the Rockville Metro Station.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Capt. Oscar Garcia says one worker died at the scene.
It was the latest in a series of accidents involving the Metro rail system. The worst was a June crash that killed eight passengers and the train operator. Two other workers were killed in separate accidents last year.
