Medtronic to give up to $1M to Haiti relief work

MINNEAPOLIS — Medical device maker Medtronic Inc. said Thursday that it and its foundation will donate up to $1 million toward earthquake relief and rebuilding in Haiti.

The company said its foundation will give $750,000 to help rebuild health care infrastructure in the island nation following the Jan. 12 earthquake.

Metronic also plans to match charitable donations by employees by giving Partners in Health up to $250,000.

Medtronic said it is in talks with nonprofits that could lead the rebuilding efforts.

It is also giving employees up to five days of paid leave to assist in recovery efforts, and it plans to donate some medical products.
