RAIPUR - Maoist guerrillas in Chhattisgarh Thursday killed a student and a tribal young man, suspecting them to be police informers.

“The Class 11 student and the youth, who had applied for the post of special police officer (SPO), were killed with sharp-edged weapons by Maoists. Their bodies were recovered from a roadside under Benur police station in Narayanpur district,” superintendent of police Rahul Bhagat told IANS.

The incident occurred about 320 km south of Raipur.

Pamphlets strewn near the bodies read that the ultras killed the duo as they were ‘police informers’.

Home Minister P. Chidambaram is scheduled to hold a meeting in Raipur Friday to fine-tune anti-Maoist operations.
