Dhaka nabs Pakistanis with fake Indian currency

DHAKA - Three people, including two Pakistanis, were arrested and Rs.1 million in fake Indian currency was seized from their possession at a hotel in this Bangladeshi capital, police said.
Bangladesh police’s Detective Branch arrested Mohammad Danish, 32, of Anarkoli in Lahore; Sabbir Ali, 55, of Karachi and Bangladeshi national Fatema Akter Opi, 23. Opi is Danish’s wife, The Daily Star reported.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner A.K.M. Shahidul Hoque said the three are part of an international gang of smugglers and were using Bangladesh as a transit for smuggling forged Indian currencies from Pakistan into India.
During preliminary interrogation, the trio said that they had made several visits to Nepal, India and Pakistan to smuggle forged Indian notes over the last three years.
Opi said she became acquainted with Danish three years ago at a trade fair in Dhaka. She got married to Danish who later involved her in the illegal business.
The official said Danish and his gang members carry forged Indian currency notes from Pakistan and use Bangladesh and Nepal as their transit passages for smuggling them to India.
