Stray bullet hits student in Noida

NOIDA - An architecture student and a helper at a roadside eatery were injured when a stray bullet hit them in the Sector-20 area of Noida late Thursday night, police said Friday.

According to Pritam Pal Singh, incharge of Sector-20 police station, Prashant Verma, a B. Tech (Architecture) student of Apeejay Institute of Technology in Greater Noida was having food at a roadside stall around 2.30 a.m., when he and the vendor Upendra Yadav heard a sound, like a cracker.

“To their surprise, they noticed, within seconds, both Prashant and the helper, Birju were bleeding,” Singh said.

“The vendor informed us of the incident. Prashant and Birju were taken to Vinayak Hospital in Sector-18, from where the student was shifted to Kailash Hospital as his condition was relatively more serious, he said.

A case of attempted murder has been registered against unidentified assailants.
