NOIDA - Four people have been arrested in Noida for allegedly conspiring to kidnap a Delhi-based doctor for ransom, police said Tuesday.

According to sources in Special Task Force (STF), four men identified as Sirajuddin, Ravi Kumar, Insha Allah and Pappu were arrested Monday evening for conspiring to kidnap Dr. S. Farooqi, the owner of Life Line Hospital in Priyadarshini Vihar area of Delhi.

The four accused had also kidnapped Dr. Farooqi’s younger brother Dr. Sayeed for ransom in 1995, a case of which had been registered at Hauz Khas police station. However, even after his family paid the ransom amount to them, they had murdered Sayeed, STF sources said.

Jawed, the fifth member of the gang, was supposed to drive a van and the four accused were to accompany him. They had plans to kidnap Dr. Farooqi from Priyadarshini Vihar and bring him to a flat, which they had purposefully rented.

On knowing about their plans, an STF team raided the flat A-12 in Sector-35 of Noida, around 7 p.m. and arrested them. Jawed, however, was not there and is evading arrest.

Superintendent of Police (City) H.N. Singh confirmed that the four were arrested by STF. A case has been registered against the four men on the complaint of STF at sector-24 police station. They have been sent to jail, Singh said.
