BEIJING - A worker who was trapped in a steel shaft undersea for 80 hours has been rescued, a media report said Monday.

Fan, 43, was brought to the surface Sunday afternoon from a depth of 18 metres in Jiaxing Harbour in China’s eastern Zhejiang province, People’s Daily reported citing officials.

He was rushed to the No. 2 People’s Hospital in Pinghu city.

The shaft in which he was working deformed Thursday under sudden increase of hydraulic pressure from flood tide. He had been trapped since then, and was supplied food through tubes. Fan survived the ordeal unhurt.
