LUCKNOW - A man involved in bringing fake currency notes into India from Bangladesh has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district but his two aides managed to escape, police said Friday.

Naushad, 25, was held Thursday with counterfeit currency notes worth around Rs.50,000 near the Gulabbadi area while Salim Mistri and Mohd Zakir managed to escape along with fake notes worth over Rs.4 lakh.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that Naushad worked for a Bangladesh-based racket involved in supplying counterfeit notes in several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh,” police inspector V.P. Singh told reporters in Moradabad, some 350 km from here.

“The vital inputs provided by Naushad will help us nab his other gang members,” Singh said.
