Flood in Uttarakhand Triggers Massive Damage

DEHRA DUN, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com) — After two days of incessant rains in Uttarakhand the state is totally under the a turmoil with floods and landslides. Atleast 72 people are killed in the flood and the continuous rise of water rendered many people homeless and many villages in a dilapidated condition.

In the wake of floods the government officials have declared that the schools will remain shut for 3 days. Almora, Chamauli, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Rishikesh and Haridwar are the most affected places and the increasing level of water released from Tehri dam seems to worsen the condition. The level of water in the Ganga has risen 2 meters above its danger mark posing threats and massive damage to lives and property.

Several tourists resorts are submerged under water near Corbett National Park. According to the weather reports situation is going to be more threatening in the coming 24 hours. Several Jawans have been sent to the place to aid in the rescue operations and help in emergency situations.
