18 injured in Texas charter bus crash
SANGER, Texas — Texas authorities say 18 people have been injured in a charter bus crash.
The state Department of Public safety says in a release that the bus traveling from Dallas to Oklahoma City struck a concrete barrier early Saturday on a highway just north of Sanger. The bus didn’t overturn, but some passengers were ejected through side windows that opened and broke on impact.
The bus driver tells officials the accident happened when he tried to avoid a vehicle that had swerved in front of him.
Eighteen of the 33 passengers on board were taken to area hospitals with varying degrees of injuries, including one who was transported in serious condition via air ambulance.
Sanger is about 50 miles north of Dallas.
