Boulder Wildfire Continues To Spread

DENVER (GaeaTimes.com)- A wind-driven wildfire that started in Four Mile Canyon northwest of Boulder, Colorado, spread across several square miles on Monday engulfing several buildings and leading to widespread evacuations of homes. No injury report as of yet has been received by the authorities who could not confirm the exact reason behind the sudden wildfire.

According to reports, the fire started spreading early on Monday morning from Four Mile Canyon northwest of Boulder, towards its northwest and west. A wind of 45 miles per hour spread the flames rapidly over the Boulder county area and reports claim that on the very first day the flames have spread over an area of 4 square miles. Although the authorities could not confirm the number of buildings that have been burnt down by the Boulder wildfire, but said that several of them were residential buildings. Around 200 homes scattered in Boulder were evacuated early on Monday and authorities said that residents of other subdivisions have been ordered to evacuate their houses by Monday night. Around 100 more buildings are threatened by the fire reportedly. Authorities closed at least four roads in the area and health officials advised residents to keep indoors as plumes of white smoke spread over the area.

The Boulder County sheriff’s Commander Rick Brough when contacted said that the fire is spreading quickly over the “rocky, hilly, mountainous terrain”. The website of Boulder County Emergency Management Office said that the county’s telephone alert system is not working properly and urged asked residents to evacuate their places without waiting for calls from authorities. Rick Brough said that about 100 ground crew members along with 75 more in standby were working on field to control the fire.
