COPIAPO, CHILE (GaeaTimes.com)- In a rather amazing development, 33 miners who were trapped underground in a mine in Chile since an accident that took place on August 5, were found to be alive. Sebastian Pinera, the President of Chile made the announcement on Sunday that all of the 33 trapped miners are alive and are waiting to be rescued as early as possible. Although it has been noted by the Chilean President that it might take months before the mine workers are brought to safety, the news that they are still alive was enough to spark a wave of jubilation among the large number of crowds who had gathered at the site where the announcement was made.

The evidence that the Chilean mine workers are still breathing was deduced after a probe was sent on early Sunday morning by the rescuers which came back with the sign that read “All 33 of us are fine in the shelter.” As President Sebastian Pinera held out the message written in red letters, he exclaimed that everyone was overjoyed at the development. The fact that the trapped miners are still fighting for their lives came as a huge relief to their family members and friends, many of whom hugged each other in jubilation.

According to reports, the officials in Chile have divulged that the mine workers who are trapped are putting up in a makeshift shelter which is about the size of a small flat with restricted amount of food and other essential commodities. As it might take as much as four months to rescue them, authorities are planning to use tubes to send them food and other items.
