Wadena Tornado Leaves Two Dead

WADENA (GaeaTimes.com)- Wadena witnessed a heavy tornado on Thursday which killed two people at the Cenex station in the northwestern part of Minnesota. Reportedly, it was an all school reunion week in Wadena when the tornado rolled in. People were busy preparing for a grand parade when the tornado ripped off the roof of strong>Wadena High School.
The nearby apartments and gas stations were also equally affected by the tornado. Four vehicles were destroyed by the storm and some people were badly injured. Soon after, the Wadena authorities issued orders to lock down a large section of Highway 29 in between Wadena and Alexandria. Apart from Wadena, southeast Minnesota witnessed the tornado causing heavy damage to farms and crops. Albert Lea Mayor Mike Murtaugh told the media that the town shall open it’s National Guard Armory which shall offer shelter to one and all who have lost their houses due to the tornado. He has asked people to stay clam and declared that the state is aware of the situation in Wadena and shall do it’s best to recover things as soon as possible.
Don Zuehlke, who happens to be the Parkers Prairie Mayor reported his farm situated within a few miles from the city being destroyed due to the tornado. He also said that the tornado after causing extensive damages in Wadena have moved towards the outskirts of the town causing heavy damage to his farm and to the Turkey barns. Apart from Wadena, Winsted also witnessed a heavy twister which passed over a bean field and thus the nearby area was saved from a major disaster.
