Arkansas Flooding Kills 16

CADDO GAP (GaeaTimes.com)- On Friday, the flash flood in the low-lying campground in western Arkansas led to the death of at least 16 people who were swept away by the flood in their sleep. Reports claim that more than a dozen people are still reported missing and that the officials fear that death toll might rise in coming days. The number of deaths was announced by the state officials on Friday. Though previously, the Arkansas officials had reported that the number of deaths might be more than 20, on Friday the number was decreased to 16. A spokeswoman for the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management said that the officials did not know for sure how many people were vacationing at the Albert Pike Recreational Area that lies in the Ouaxhita National Forest.
The deadly Arkansas flooding happened that rose at a rate of 8 feet per hour devoured the camps and overturned the recreational vehicles. Heavy rain lashed on Arkansas and flooded the otherwise quite Caddo and the Little Missouri rivers over night. The flood water rose at a rate of around 8 feet per hour reportedly.
As the rescue works began early on Friday, More than 24 people were hospitalized who were affected by the Arkansas flooding. The officials also rescued dozens of people while the search continued on Friday. Bill Sadler the spokesman of Arkansas State Police said to media sources that the rescue operation will continue on Saturday and that helicopters, ATVs, and canoes will be used put to use on Saturday. The present Arkansas flooding is being called by many as one of the most devastating floods in recent past.
