Buses collide, killing 10 in China
BEIJING — A head-on collision between two buses in southern China killed 10 people and injured an additional 43 early Monday in the second major bus accident in two days.
The buses, one carrying 55 people and the other carrying 28, collided on a highway in Hechi city in Guangxi province, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.
A head-on crash Sunday between a truck and bus in northeastern Liaoning province killed 32 people and injured another 24 after a truck traveling on the wrong side of the road plowed into the bus, bursting into flames on impact.
The latest accident occurred about 2 a.m., Xinhua said. Neither bus was overloaded. The cause of the accident is under investigation. No other details were immediately known.
Road accidents are common in China because of overloaded and unsafe vehicles, poor road conditions and bad driving habits.
