GREATER NOIDA - A man, arrested for abducting and murdering a girl, was released after the “victim” was found alive, a police official said Monday.

According to police, a girl was allegedly abducted by three men April 13. On the complaint of her father Banshi Singh, a case of abduction was registered at Kasna police station against Dinesh, Manvir and Vikas. Dinesh was arrested but the other two were absconding.

Meanwhile, police in Meerut’s Kharkhauda village April 24 informed Noida police about a recovery of the body of a girl. Banshi Singh identified the body as that of his daughter on the basis of ring and a nose ring. His brother also identified the body.

After the identification, police continued to hunt for the other accused. On Monday, police found the location of Manvir, through mobile surveillance, near the DND flyover but a police team on reaching the spot, found the “murdered” girl with him.

“After the recovery of the girl, the charges of murder have been dropped and Manvir has been arrested under sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc) and 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.

“Vikas is still on the run. The court is being informed to drop charges of murder against Dinesh, the brother-in-law of Manvir,” Greater Noida’s Superintendent of Police Surendra Kumar Verma said.
