RANCHI - Sudha Pathak, mother of Delhi scribe Nirupama Pathak found dead April 29 in Jharkhand’s Koderma district, is likely to be grilled by police in jail as a court Friday rejected investigators’ plea to send her to police custody.

Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) N.K. Agrawal while rejecting a petition seeking police remand of the scribe’s mother allowed them to interrogate her in jail.

On Friday, her lawyer withdrew a bail petition filed Thursday on the ground of lack of supporting documents. He later filed a fresh bail petition.

Sudha Pathak was arrested May 3 by Koderma police on the basis of circumstantial evidences which pointed towards her role in killing Nirupama, found dead in her Koderma home.

The scribe’s family members insist that Nirupama committed suicide but her boyfriend Priyabhanshu Ranjan alleged that she was killed by her family members who were against their love affair.

Jharkhand police is now waiting for a forensic report to carry forward the investigation.
