Gujarat cop held for Prajapati killing in fake gun battle

GANDHINAGAR - A Gujarat police inspector was arrested Thursday for his role in the killing of Tulsi Prajapati in an alleged fake gun battle. He is the fifth policeman to be arrested in the case.

Inspector Ashish Pandya was arrested when he reported at the anti-corruption bureau office in Rajkot.

Prajapati was allegedly killed near Ambaji on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border in December 2006.

The state criminal investigation department has intensified its investigation into the case which is believed to be connected with the Sohrabuddin fake gunfight case.

Fifteen policemen have been arrested for the November 2005 killing of Sohrabuddin, who, police claimed, was killed in a shootout near Ahmedabad Nov 28, 2005. His wife Kauserbi has been missing since then.

Rajasthan police personnel accompanying Prajapati on the fateful day to Udaipur are also absconding.

The police have already arrested then Banaskantha district superintendent of police Vipul Agrawal and three policemen - Karansinh Sisodiya, Kiransinh Rajput and Kanji Kacchi - are in police remand till May 17.
