KATHMANDU - An Indian man was shot dead by unidentified attackers in western Nepal while visiting his relatives, police said.

Israeli Ansari had come from India’s Uttar Pradesh state to visit relatives in Nepal’s Nawalparasi district.

The 40-year-old, who was staying in a guesthouse, died Tuesday morning after being shot by two men who fled on a cycle.

No arrest has been made. The cause for the murder is yet to be established.

Many Indians have relatives staying across the border in Nepal and vice-versa.

The open border between the two countries has been a growing security concern.
