10 killed in China coalmine blast

WUHAN - Ten miners were killed and six injured Saturday in a blast inside a coalmine in central China, an official said.

Nineteen miners were working in the shaft of the Shuijingwan Coal Mine when the blast took place, around 7:30 a.m., said Zhan Caiyong, director of the Hubei Provincial Work Safety Bureau.

The mine is located in Zhonglu township in Lichuan city, Xinhua reported.

The injured were rushed to hospital.
