NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE (GaeaTimes.com)- As per the latest reports, the number of casualties due to the Nashville flooding has increased to 15. While the initial count after the Saturday storm and rain that lashed over Tennessee was 5, the count kept increasing throughout Sunday as news of death poured in every hour at the government offices. Officials reported that at least 11 people died in Tennessee and in the Nashville area while the toll in the Mississippi area increased to 4.

On Sunday, as the weather forecast warned, more rain and storm lashed the state and increased the misery. Thousands of people were evacuated to safer destinations as floodwater gushed into the houses in Nashville and the adjoining areas. Hundreds of people were rescued from their houses on Sunday. Gauging the huge rescue task, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency asked for the help of the state’s Army National Guard.

Keeping in mind the huge Nashville flooding, many schools and colleges have been shut. Nashville Mayor Karl Dean on Sunday made the announcement that all Metro-Davidson county schools will remain closed on Monday. Some reports claim that the undergraduate examinations have also been postponed due to the present situation. The Nashville roads have been flooded with water and hundreds of cars are stranded on the highways which have literally turned into rivers that can sweep and person off to death. The Red Cross has reportedly opened many shelters in Nashville and many other places throughout the state and is also guiding people with emergency works. The Nashville officials have said that people should remain up to date with the weather messages and alerts.
