Nashville Flooding Kills 5

MEMPHIS (GaeaTimes.com)- A devastating flood and storm has struck Nashville and its surrounding area on Saturday. The storm and rain has already claimed the life of five people in Tennessee and will according to forecast continue to lash over the state this weekend. The state has received a rain fall of 6 to 10 inches during the first 12 hours and is expected to receive more than 8 inches of rain over the night. Hundreds of people have been evacuated to safer destinations by the officials and still many are being taken to other places.
Out of the five casualties that occurred on Saturday, two people died while they were trying to save their life by climbing over the roof of their SUV. They were swept by the flood water reportedly. Jeremy Heidt of the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency said that three more people were reported dead by the officials. The death casualties were reported from Stewart, Davidson, Carroll counties and Williamson according to Jeremy Heidt. The flood situation in Nashville is being called by the National Weather Service officials as “extremely dangerous”. Jeremy Heidt said that the flood is widespread and has become a matter of serious concern.
The Mayor Karl Dean has asked people of Nashville to keep safe. The Mayor said that the present flood is one of the most severe rain events that Nashville has experienced in years warning at the same time that people should stay at home. He also asked people not to venture on roads as it might become dangerous. Many roads and highways have been impassable due to the floodwater.
