Man poisons wife and son, hangs himself

MUMBAI - A man poisoned his wife and three-year-old son before hanging himself to death in Panvel town in Maharashtra’s Raigad district, police said Thursday.

Amit Kudle, 27, gave a huge dose of sleeping pills to his wife Shamli, 27, and son Manthan late Wednesday, an official said. The police said it is not clear why Kudle took the extreme step.

“His brother Ajit found his body hanging from the fan,” he added. Panvel is 90 km from here.

“We have sent the bodies for autopsy and the cause of death can be ascertained only after the reports are received,” said Jayshree Kulkarni, the investigating officer.
