Soldier shoots two army officers in Manipur

IMPHAL - Two army officers of 12th Madras Regiment were killed by a soldier in Manipur\’s Churachandpur district, police said here Wednesday.

\”Following a brief squabble, rifleman Ambeti Narayan opned fire from his self-loading rifle (SLR) killing two junior commissioned officers (JCO) — Mrinthunguan, 35, and Thanattan, 33 - late Monday night,\” Superintendent of Police G.B. Sharma told IANS over phone.

The incident took place at the army\’s Khengjong outpost, about 70 km south of state capital Imphal.

Sharma said: \”After killing his two senior colleagues, the rifleman fled from the army outpost. He was arrested Tuesday night.\”
