GREATER NOIDA - A railway cabinman was killed in a case of mistaken identity here, police said Wednesday.

Om Prakash Srivastava, a resident of Pratapgarh, posted at Ajaibpur railway station (Greater Noida), was shot dead Tuesday by eight people after he was mistaken to be a person called Nanhe, who reportedly had an affair with a girl.

Srivastava’s body was recovered from a ditch Wednesday.

“A railway cycle stand contractor at the station, Prem Singh, lodged a complaint Wednesday that eight men fired several shots. They thought no one was hurt in the firing but after the recovery of Srivastava’s body, they came to know that the criminals came to kill his employee Nanhe.

“We have registered a criminal case against the eight people,” said Superintendent of Police Surendra Verma.
